About Disaster Recovery Solutions

At Disaster Recovery Solutions we are dedicated to helping communities and other organizations to recover quickly from a disaster and to maximize the assistance from available programs of the provincial government.

The Alberta Disaster Recovery Program is overseen by AEMA (Alberta Emergency Management Agency). When a disaster occurs, communities are required to submit an application specific to the event to AEMA to initiate the appropriate recovery program. Reimbursement of incremental costs incurred while responding and recovering from the disaster is available if the community is eligible for the program.

The submission process requires documentation of damages, repairs, response costs and other expenses incurred by the community. It will require coordination between different departments within the community, such as finance/accounting and public works. Knowledge is required to determine the eligibility of expenses and the format for submission.

Disaster Recovery Solutions can provide assistance with preliminary preparations and the submission process, as well as liaise between the various departments. The expense related to this service is an eligible expense within the Alberta Disaster Recovery Program and these services can ensure that the maximum assistance available is obtained.

For communities seeking preparation in advance of a disaster, training for staff is available to allow for a seamless response and better coordination during requests for government assistance.

Our services include consulting and training for staff and management, collection and preparation of data required for the submission process, creation and formatting of the submission, liaison between AEMA, contractors and staff, and all required reporting such as damage assessments, repair estimates, verification and documentation of repairs, status reports, and statistics.

Our Mission

At Disaster Recovery Solutions we aim to assist municipalities, cities and other communities in obtaining the maximum available funding from the provincial government for the incremental costs incurred in responding to disasters and repairing the related damages.

Ideally we seek to prepare Alberta’s communities for disasters by optimizing disaster recovery, and minimizing impacts of recurring disasters like floods, wildfires, storms, and lightning strikes.
